Matthew 6:28-30
“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
1 Peter 3:3-4
Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.
1 Timothy 2:9-10
“in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.”
Titus 2:3-5
the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behaviour, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things— that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
I have read the above scriptures and over time started to mull over them and studied them.
So for a while God has been working on me again with regard to dress just like He had with makeup and hair. He does not work on changing all of our areas in our lives that need change at one time. He does it in a way that suits you. However you need to be obedient and listen carefully to the voice of the Lord. See previous posts.
As a child and a young adult I struggled with feeling feminine. I was taller than average and with what today would be called an athletic build. My vision of femininity was my adopted mother. She had a hour glass figure, full busted and I was way short of those requirements. My favourite pastime was dress up in which I would wear my mother’s maxi dresses trailing in the floor and stuffing her old bras with socks. When I grew up I would not attain that figure but realised I had great legs. So in came the short skirts, short shorts and tight jeans. I loved the looks and the power it gave me.
When I became born again it became obvious to me that this form of dress was unacceptable. I was deeply in love with my husband and no longer wanted any other man’s attention. In fact it became repugnant to me.
I found over time I think as I grew spiritually, that I did not even want to wear trousers anymore or overly bright colours. In fact, my wardrobe now mainly consists of skirts and dresses, no trousers at all. To accommodate my new style of dress my trustworthy sewing machine has come out and my love of sewing renewed.
I look around me and are too many women are wearing tight fitting gym clothes for everyday wear even when some have quite obviously never been near a gym in their lives. Even as a women I don’t know where to look, let alone a man. Incredibly low-cut tops often tight fitting along with tight jeans or truly short skirts. Now if this was just worldly women one might understand, but unfortunately this is seen in too many churches. It is even more of an afront to the eyes when it is your worship leader on centre stage. Who not only wears tight jeans but bends over to reveal a thong or her ample breasts?
What has happened to our self respect and respect for our husbands. Where is a godly man to look? Women demand respect but too often wear less than a hooker of the 90s. In fact, on most high streets nowadays I would not be able to tell the difference between a prostitute and a normal woman. In actual fact prostitutes wear more clothing.

It is up to us as Christian women to stand up and be counted to show the difference to the world. I consider it to be the greatest compliment to be told I dress like a women from biblical times. Let us bring back respect, respect to the Lord! To our husbands to ourselves and other men around us.
When we dress appropriately, we are sending a strong message to all men. This is true femininity and true freedom. Forget women’s lib which never liberated any women. Just made them slaves to fashion which changed every season and kept us focused on how we look.
To have true respect for the Lord in all we do is such a blessing.
There are a few like minded women out there connect with them. Instead of looking at your Instagram influencers connect with the few women on Instagram who are godly and dress modestly with no make-up and normal hair. I guarantee you will feel better about yourself immediately.
You will start realising that how you look is so less important than who you are!
How you worship God and respect your husband are far more important and rewarding.
