We do not pray to Jesus because Jesus Himself told us to pray by addressing “our Father who art in heaven.” Jesus also told His disciples that after His resurrection they would not ask Him anything, but rather they must pray to the Father alone in Jesus’ name (John 16:22-24).
We worship Jesus because:
a. It is the Father’s desire that we honor the Son in exactly the same way that we honor the Father (John 5:22-23)
b. He is “the image of the invisible God” (Colossians 1:15)
c. “God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself” (2 Corinithains 5:19)
d. “God has given Him the name above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee must bow” (Philippians 2:9-11).
e. We DO NOT worship “divine nature” or “divinity,” but the PERSON of the Father and the PERSON of His only-begotten Son.
