God is sovereign, but that doesn’t lead to the philosophy of St. Augustine or John Calvin. God chooses to limit His sovereignty in the case of man’s free will. He has established a framework of natural laws and spiritual laws. His natural laws include the laws of physics. Everything in the universe obeys God’s natural … Continue reading The Coexistence of Sovereignty and Free Will – Calvinism Series

Free Will & the Early Church – Calvinism – Part 11
We stated in the introduction that Calvinism has its roots in the views of St. Augustine. This man was also largely responsible for the acceptance of amillennialism into mainstream Christianity, and the Roman Catholic doctrine that the Catholic Church is now God’s Kingdom on earth. Prior to his conversion in the fourth century, Augustine was … Continue reading Free Will & the Early Church – Calvinism – Part 11
Biblical Chronology Introduction
The earliest Christians with links to the Apostles were Millennialists (Chiliasts), claiming that Jesus would return to earth to establish His one-thousand-year Kingdom after six millennia had elapsed from creation. The Psalm of Moses (Psalm 90), 2 Peter, Hebrews, and Revelation contain strong evidence that this was apostolic teaching. If so, all that is necessary … Continue reading Biblical Chronology Introduction
16 Pointers on How to Better Understand and Study the Bible
1. Take everything in the Bible literally unless this could not possibly be the meaning. When the language is used in a figurative sense get the literal truth conveyed by it.2. Give the same literal meanings to words, and apply to the Bible the same rules of grammar, figures of speech, types, symbols, allegories, parables, … Continue reading 16 Pointers on How to Better Understand and Study the Bible
The Right Balance between Paganism & Bondage with Respect to Biblical Feasts
This is precisely what the Feasts were intended to do, illustrate the Gospel and the true Christian Hope using allegories and symbols. Most of the Feasts (all but the Day of Atonement) will also be celebrated in the coming Kingdom. The Holy Spirit is the very nature, presence and expression of God's power actively working in His servants. Rather than describing the Holy Spirit as a distinct person or entity, the Bible most often refers to it … Continue reading The Holy Spirit Is Not a Person
We all have Theological Filters
By Jeff A. Benner A filter, such as the air filter in your car, is used to block unwanted debris, yet allow air to continue through to the engine. A theological filter works in much the same way, it is a mental filter that blocks unwanted information, yet allows the desired information to continue through to … Continue reading We all have Theological Filters
What is Hebrew chiasm / chiastic / chiasmus structure in the Bible?
A chiasm (also called a chiasmus) is a literary device in which a sequence of ideas is presented and then repeated in reverse order. The result is a “mirror” effect as the ideas are “reflected” back in a passage. Each idea is connected to its “reflection” by a repeated word, often in a related form. The … Continue reading What is Hebrew chiasm / chiastic / chiasmus structure in the Bible?
Lazarus and the Rich man commentary Luke 16:19 – Parable?
This is best explanation I have ever come across on Luke 16:19 as it deals with the question is it is a literal story or a parable. It is a parable and this commentary proves it. Are you willing to hear the another view on this portion of scripture. It is from Commentary on Luke … Continue reading Lazarus and the Rich man commentary Luke 16:19 – Parable?
